Social media marketing is still relatively new in the world of marketing and business growth. Even though it’s new, it may be the most important form of marketing and advertising that you do for your business. For very little money (or no money at all), you can reach thousands, or even millions, of people every day.
Of course, to increase your reach and get better engagement with your audience, you’ll need to understand that social media marketing is a constant process and that your business’ social media presence needs daily attention if you’re going to use it to its full potential. Fortunately, you can implement a few daily habits that will take up very little time and effort to greatly improve your social influence, build brand recognition, and establish yourself as a thought leader in your industry.
REGULARLY COMMENT ON FANS’ POSTS
Take a look at your business page. Look at who’s been posting to your page lately and click over to their page or profile. If they’ve posted something recently, leave a relevant and helpful comment. Be sure to use their first name and be positive in your contribution. Doing this will promote more conversation between you and the people who follow your page, and it doesn’t take much time at all. Just make three to five comments on followers’ pages per day, and you’ll be amazed at the outcome.
TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR INSIGHTS AND ANALYTICS
Whether you use Google Analytics, Facebook’s Insights feature, or any other tracking software, take a look at how well your posts are doing, when they get the most activity, and which ones get the most engagement. Keeping an eye on your analytics will help you find patterns so that you can see which types of posts you should continue to make, which ones aren’t working out so well, and when to post to get the most engagement.
IF SOMETHING ISN’T WORKING, FIX IT
If you’re like a lot of business owners, you probably have a social media calendar and you have your posts written ahead of time so that you can automate them to post on a specific schedule. If you notice that posts made on Friday evenings aren’t getting as much engagement as posts made throughout the rest of the week, try changing your Friday schedule to post in the morning. If posts without pictures or video aren’t performing as well as those that have them, then start adding more pictures and videos to your post.
Instead of sitting down to write all of your posts for the week (or month) at once, take a couple of minutes each day to jot down a few ideas for upcoming posts. Then, when you do sit down to write your posts, you’ll have a whole list of great ideas for new content that you can work with. This way your posts will stay diverse and unique instead of melting into each other and looking the same.
SHARE OTHER PEOPLE’S POSTS, BLOGS AND CONTENT
Finally, you can add a lot to your social media marketing efforts without putting in a lot of energy if you share other people’s posts, blogs, videos, and other content. Do this and interact with them on their pages, and they’ll be more likely to share your content, too. The more you collaborate this way, the more engagement you’ll get.
Social media marketing may still be in its infancy, but if you develop a few simple daily habits to keep your social media pages active and engaged, you’ll see significant benefits for your business.
